How we used Lego to solve a problem in our soap business

In September we were invited to do a presentation at a Pecha Kucha event in Sapperton, a neighbourhood in our city, New Westminster, BC. Pecha Kucha is a quick and fun presentation driven by images that show for 20 second each. Presenters need to convey their message quickly and the audience gets to hear from a diverse group of experts.

We shared about how we used Lego to solve a problem in our business.

Last year we hired a graphic designer to design packaging for our bar soap. The package is two band labels that create a faux box. Our printer cuts and scores our labels. This means we when we fold the labels around the soap, they are uniform and square.

We use a clear sticker to hold the label together.

Problem! It is hard to hold the label tight around the bar of soap and so it is sometimes loose or crooked.

We asked for help from a Lego expert and they built us this brace.

The Lego brace holds the label around the soap bar. Freeing up our hands to get that clear sticker ready.

Ta da! Our soap it wrapped neat and tidy.

You wouldn't think Lego would have a place in a soap business, but it is a part of Simon's Soapbox!
